There are several ways to measure the tendency of a set of data.
The one number that will help describe the set of data. Mean:
The mean is what is popularly known as the average. To compute it we add up all the numbers and divide by the quantity of numbers in the data set.
Variation describes how spread out the data is. The tighter and skinnier the distribution the smaller the variation.
Variation is found in all things we measure however we want to minimize any variation we might introduce through measurement.
The less variation in our data the more accurate we can be in making predictions and conclusions from our data.
Range;- The range is one way to measure the spread of a set of data. It is defined as the difference between the highest value and the lowest value in a data set. The range is always positive. The larger the range the greater the spread of the data. The smallest range you can have is zero.
